Week 8 Studs/Duds Predictions:

QUARTERBACKS:

Studs:  Mark Brunell:  Has been consistent so far.  Goes up against a Giants' defense that is
allowing 295.8 passing yards per game.
Carson Palmer:  Coming off a bad performance against the Steelers.  The Packers will
not have the same luck against him.
Brett Favre:  Appears to be the only constant in the Packers' offense right now.  Most
likely will be playing catch-up against the explosive Bengals, therefore, look
for him to get some paaing yards.
Steve McNair:  The Raiders' defense is banged up and the loss of Charles Woodson and
Derrick Gibson makes it tough.  McNair should be able to exploit the
                                    Raider defense.

Duds:  Jamie Martin:  Gets his 2nd straight start but without Bruce and possibly Holt, he'll
struggle against a stingy Jaguars defense that is only allowing 153.5 yards
                                   passing per game.
Ken Dorsey:  Most likely will start in place of an injured Alex Smith.  His inexperience will
                                show against the Bucs defense.
Anthony Wright:  Tough assignment facing the Steelers on MNF.  Has 7 INT's and 5 TD's
                                       in the year.
Kyle Orton:  The Bears passing game has really struggled.  Expect the Bears to rely more
on Thomas Jones and the running game.

RUNNING BACKS:

Studs:  LaDainian Tomlinson:  Had a dismal performance last week.  Look for him to bounce
                                                 back strong against the Chiefs.
Carnell Williams:  The bye week may have provided Williams with the much needed rest
he has needed.  Should be able to run all over the 49ers' last ranked
                                        defense.
Thomas Jones:  The passing game has been struggling and Jones appears to be improving.
The Lions will gat a heavy load of Thomas Jones.
Reuben Droughns:  The Texans are allowing 166.7 rushing yards per game.  The passing
game is struggling.  Who do you think eill get the ball?

Duds:  Kevan Barlow:  Don't expect much this weekend as he faces the Bucs who are only
allowing 62 rushing yards per game.
Marcel Shipp:  Still sharing time with Arrington.  Cowboys' run defense is tough.
Kevin Jones:  The Bears' defense has not allowed a rushing TD this year and over the last
4 games have only allowed running backs 65 rushing yards and 56 receiving
                                 yards per game.
Jamal Lewis:  Has not been much of an integral part of the Ravens' offense, most likely
because he looks to be OUT OF SHAPE.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Studs:  Santana Moss:  Has been on fire.  Look for him to light it up against a weak Giants'
                                     secondary.
Steve Smith:  Smith leads the league with 7 receiving TD's this year.
Donald Driver:  Should be Favre's go-to guy now that most of the offense is going down
                                     with injuries.
Chad Johnson:  One of the key components of the Bengals' explosive offense.

Duds:  Derrick Mason:  The Ravens' passing game struggling which will make it a long night
                                    against the tough Steelers' defense.
Andre Johnson:  Check his status before the game but even if he does play, he'll most
                                      likely get limited action.
Marcus Robinson:  One of many wide receivers for the Vikings and with Culpepper's
inconsistency will not get many fantasy points.
Brandon Lloyd:  Tough assignment against a strong Bucs' defensy especially with an
                                      inexperienced rookie QB.

TIGHT ENDS:

Studs:  Antonio Gates:  The Chiefs have allowed 4 TD's to tight ends this year.  Gates is one of
                                     Brees' favorite targets.
Tony Gonzalez:  Had his best game of the season last week against the Dolphins.  Has
an even better match-up this week against the Chargers.

Duds:  Mark Breuner:  Only has 1 catch this year.  He is used mainly as a blocker.  Enough said.
Ernie Conwell:  Only has 3 catches this year.  He is used mainly as a blocker.  Enough
                                     said.

Week 5 Game Predictions:

Tennessee @ Houston:  Houston
Chicago @ Cleveland:  Cleveland
New Orleans @ Green Bay:  Green Bay
Tampa Bay @ NY Jets:  Tampa Bay
Seattle @ St. Louis:  St. Louis
New England @ Atlanta:  New England
Miami @ Buffalo:  Buffalo
Baltimore @ Detroit:  Baltimore
Indianapolis @ San Francisco:  Indianapolis
Carolina @ Arizona:  Carolina
Philadelphia @ Dallas:  Philadelphia
Washington @ Denver:  Denver
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville:  Jacksonville
Pittsburgh @ San Diego:  Pittsburgh

Week 5 Studs/Duds predictions:

QUARTERBACKS:

Studs:  Payton Manning:  Yes, I know he has had a less than spectacular season but how long
can this last.  Not for long.  Here are the 49ers with the NFL's worst
defense giving up a meager 368.3 yards passing per game.  The
                                         outcome should be interesting.
Donovan McNabb:  Has been superb so far this season.  Should continue to produce
                                          against a weak Cowboys' secondary.
Marc Bulger:  The disappearance of a once dominating running game has led Bulger to
pass more which has made fantasy owners very happy.  The Seahawks'
defense is good but with little contribution from the running game, he will
                                 continue to air it out.
Brett Favre:  Had a great game against a tough Panthers' defense last Monday night.
Expect him to do better against a softer Saints' defense.

Duds:  Kelly Holcomb:  Gets the start for the Bills but faces an aggressive Dolphins' defense
that will make it tough for him in the new offense.
Joey Harrington:  Harrington's job is on the line.  In fact, I'm not sure that he will finish
all 4 quarters as he goes up against the Ravens'  2nd ranked defense.
Anthony Wright:  Has a passer rating of 70.5 with 2 TD' s and 4 INT's.  The Ravens will
rely more on the run this week which should limit his fanatsy points
                                       potential.
Alex Smith:  Gets his first NFL start.  The 49ers will be playing catch-up most of the game
which may lead to more passes and possible several INT's.

RUNNING BACKS:

Studs:  LaDainian Tomlinson:  This is a tough call against a physical Steelers' defense but 2 TD's
and 134 yards against a comparable Patriots' defense may mean
                                                bad news for the Steelers.
Ronnie Brown:  The Bills' defense is allowing 172.3 yards rushing per game which bodes
                                     well for R. Brown.
Shaun Alexander:  Over the last 3 games, Alexander has averaged 126 yards rushing and
has a total of 3 TD's.  With the Seahawks passing game struggling, he
should get plenty of opportunities to continue the trend.
Edgerrin James:  If the Colts get off to a large early lead, look for James to be the bulk of
the offense during the second half.

Duds:  Curtis Martin:  Faces a Bucs' defense that allows 61.5 yards rushing per game.  With a
struggling Jets' passing game, expect the Bucs to focus more on stopping
the run which may mean low totals for Martin.
Willie Parker:  Has exceeded everyone's expections but unfortunately the ride will slow
down for now with the return of Bettis and Staley.  Bettis will most likely
get the bulk of the goal line rushes.
Carnell Williams:  Is questionable for this weekend's game against the Jets.  This season,
the Jets have held Ronnie Brown to 2.9 yards per carry, Fred Taylor to
2.6 yards per carry and Jamal Lewis to 2.8 yards per carry so don't
expect Williams to do well even if he plays.
Marcel Shipp:  The Cardinals' running game has been in disarray.  Shipp is now the starter
but he will have a difficult time running the ball against a Panthers' defense
that only allows 85.5 yards rushing per game.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Studs:  Terrell Owens:  The duo of McNabb and Owens has been amazing.  Doubtful that the
                                     Cowboys will interfere with this.
Steve Smith:  Smith has been Delhomme's go-to receiver.  Had a quiet game last Monday
night against the Packers, but the Cardinals can only hope to be so lucky.
Donald Driver:  The Packers face a weak secondary in the Saints.
Marvin Harrison:  Manning will tee off against the 49ers which bodes very well for Harrison
and all the other Colts' receivers.

Duds:  Roy Williams:  Williams faces a tough battle this weekend against a Ravens' defense that
only allows 190.3 yards passing per game.
Michael Jenkins:  Vick and company will have a hard time against a Patriots' team that is
trying to avenge last week's loss to the Chargers.
Andre Johnson:  Johnson has still to figure out the art of overcoming the double team.  With
Carr having a dismal year, Johnson will get few catches this week.
Antonio Bryant:  The Bears' defense will pressure Dilfer all game which should limit Bryant's
                                      total points.

TIGHT ENDS:

Studs:  LJ Smith:  Has become a more integral part of the Eagles' offense.  Is being used almost as
a third receiver.  Should do well against the Cowboys.
Erron Kinney:  McNair's favorite target right now.  Texans' defense has allowed 230 yards
                                    passing per game.
Duds:  Steve Heiden:  In week 2 he had a stellar performance with 104 receiving yards and 2 TD's.
In the rest of the games, he has 5 total receptions for 44 total yards.
Bubba Franks:  Has been limited by injuries and is not a good option at this time.

KICKERS:

Studs:  Neil Rackers:  Having a stellar year with 16/16 FG's this year.  The Cardinals struggle in the
red zone, which should mean more scoring opportunities for Rackers.
Jeff Wilkins:  The Rams' offense should be able to move the ball against the Seahawks.
This will give Wilkins several attempts at field goals and extra points.

Duds:  Mike Nugent:  The Jets will have a hard time moving the ball against a tough Bucs' defense.
This means low points for Nugent this week.
Doug Brien:  Is 1/4 for FG's this year.

DEFENSE:

Studs:  Colts:  With Alex Smith getting his first Nfl start, the Colts will pressure him into making
                      mistakes.
Ravens:  Harrington is having a dismal year and the Ravens have the second ranked
                          defense in the NFL.

Duds:  Cowboys:  The Eagles have had success against the Cowboys in the past and now with the
duo of McNabb and Owens, this could mean trouble for the Cowboys.
49ers:  The 49ers are allowing 473.5 yards of total offense per game which you guessed it, is
the worst in the NFL.  Manning has had a disappointing year so far and he will look to
                      reverse this against the 49ers.

Week 4 Game Predictions:

Houston @ Cincinnati:  Cincinnati
San Diego @ New England:  New England
Denver @ Jacksonville:  Jacksonville
Indianapolis @ Tennessee:  Indianapolis
Detroit @ Tampa Bay:  Tampa Bay
St. Louis @ NY Giants:  NY Giants
Buffalo @ New Orleans (San Antonio):  Buffalo
Seattle @ Washington:  Washington
NY Jets @ Baltimore:  Baltimore
Philadelphia @ Kansas City:  Philadelphia
Minnesota @ Atlanta:  Atlanta
Dallas @ Oakland:  Oakland
San Francisco @ Arizona (Mexico City):  Arizona
Green Bay @ Carolina:  Carolina

Week 4 Studs/Duds Predictions:

QUARTERBACKS:

Studs:  Carson Palmer:  My first time this year picking him.  What to me so long?  Look out
Texans.  Should be entertaining to watch Palmer dismantle a very
                                      brittle Texans' secondary.
Donovan McNabb:  Injury or no injury, Mcnabb has been hot and should fare well
against a defense that is weak on pass defense.
Marc Bulger:  He faces a defense that has allowed the 3rd most passing yards per
game.  The Rams' running game has not been as effective this year so
look for them to lean more on the passing game.
Daunte Culpepper:  Finally got back on the right track last week with 3 TDs and 300
yards passing.  The Falcons have a stingy passing defense but
will have a tough time against Culpepper and the Vikings' newly
                                          revived running game.

Duds:  David Carr:  Faces a vastly improved Bengals' defense that leads the league with 12
interceptions.  The Bengals will attempt to pressure Carr and force him
to hurry his passes which could spell more interceptions.
Aaron Brooks:  Over the first 3 games, Brooks has totaled 2 TDs and 5 interceptions.
He goes up against a Bills' defense that has only allowed 106.3 yards
                                   passing per game.
Drew Brees:  Has not been as effective as last year.  Only has 575 yards passing over
the first 3 games.  Last week, the Patriots kept Roethlisberger scrambling.
Look fotr the same fate with Brees.
Brooks Bollinger:  Will get his first NFL start this week.  Should be an extremely long
day as he faces the Ravens' defense.

RUNNING BACKS:

Studs:  Carnell Williams:  And to think that this guy is a rookie.  Has been very consistent
over the first 3 games.  This should continue as he faces the Lions
                                         this weekend.
Willis McGahee:  Should get plenty of carries against a poor Saints' defense that
                                        ranks 28th in run defense.
Mewelde Moore:  Moore appears to be the starting running back now.  Falcons' rush
defense allows 128.7 yards rushing per game.
Rudi Johnson:  Has been very consistent this year.  Should do well against a weak
                                     Texans' defense.

Duds:  Jamal Lewis:  57 yards rushing in 26 attempts this year, including 9 yards rushing in
10 attempts against a Titans' defense that allowed 307 combined yards
rushing to the Steelers and the Rams.
Curtis Martin:  Without passing game, Martin will have a hard time running the ball
                                  against a formidable Ravens' defense.
Marcel Shipp:  Appears to have taken over the starting job in Arizona but Arrington
should continue to get some carries.  The 49ers have not allowed a
                                   100 yard rusher this year.
Kevin Jones:  Only had 22 yards rushing against the Bears and has not scored a TD
so far this year.  Faces a tougher defense in the Bucs this weekend.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Studs:  Terrell Owens:  Most likely the most exciting wide receiver in football right now.
Continues to be a big part of the Eagles' offense.
Chad Johnson:  Has caught for more than 100 yards and scored a TD in each of
his first 3 games this season.  Expect the same this weekend
                                      against the Texans.
Torry Holt:  With the running game struggling, look for Bulger to connect with Owens
often as they face a Giants' defense that has allowed over 280 yards
                                passing per game.
Steve Smith:  Making fantasy football owners happy this year as he leads all wide
receivers with the most points.  Akso, has 23 receptions as compared
to 6 total catches for the rest of the Panthers' wide receivers.

Duds:  Andre Johnson:  Having difficulty with the double team.  Will not have much success
                                      this week.
Laverannues Coles:  Bollinger to get the start for the Jets.  Will have a hard time
against the Ravens' defense which will mean poor numbers for
                                            Coles.
Marcus Robinson:  Has been too inconsistent this year and should not see too many
receiving opportunities this week despite the revival of the Vikings'
                                         passing attack.
Ashley Lelie:  The Broncos face a tough Jaguars secondary.  Rod Smith is getting
                                  the majority of catching opportunities.

TIGHT ENDS

Studs:  Alge Crumpler:  One of Vick's main targets.  Faces a defense that allows 239.3
                                      passing yards per game.
Jason Witten:  Has been getting more passes lately.  Scored his first TD last week.

Duds:  Ernie Conwell:  Faces a very tough Bills' defense.  Catching opportunities will be
                                    limited.
Stephen Alexander:  Has 3 catches all year and still does not have a fantasy point.

KICKERS:

Studs:  Neil Rackers:  Is 10/10 for FG's this year including 2 of 50+ yards.  The Cardinals face
a defense which allows 477 total yards per game.
Rian Lindell:  Is 9/9 for FG's this year and is 2nd in fantasy points for kickers behind
                                  Rackers.

Duds:  Kris Brown:  Only has 2 XP's this year without any FG's.  The Texans will not get too
many scoring opportunities with their impotent offense.
Sebastian Janikowski:  Is 3/7 for FG's this year.

DEFENSES:

Studs:  Bengals:  Leads the league with 12 INT's and faces a Texans' offense that averages a
whopping 170.5 yards total yards per game.
Ravens:  Billinger gets his 1st Nfl start against the Ravens.  Will feast on Bollinger.

Duds:  Chargers:  The Patriots had their way with an excellent Steelers' defense.  The should
fare much better against a subpar Chargers' defense.
Chiefs:  The Eagles with their 1-2-3 punch of McNavbb, Owens, and Westbrook lead the
league with 444 yards of total offense.  Look out Chiefs.

Week 3 Game Predictions:

Tennessee @ St. Louis:  St. Louis
Oakland @ Philadelphia:  Philadelphia
Cincinnati @ Chicago:  Chicago
Jacksonville @ N.Y. Jets:  N.Y. Jets
New Orleans @ Minnesota:  Minnesota
Carolina @ Miami:  Carolina
Cleveland @ Indianapolis:  Indianapolis
Atlanta @ Buffalo:  Buffalo
Tampa Bay @ Green Bay:  Tampa Bay
Arizona @ Seattle:
Seattle
Dallas @ San Francisco:  Dallas
New England @ Pittsburgh:  Pittsburgh
N.Y. Giants @ San Diego:  San Diego
Kansas City @ Denver:  Kansas City

Week 3 Studs/Duds Predictions:

QUARTERBACKS:

Studs:  Peyton Manning:  Has been slow to start but expect him to get a jump start against the
                                         Browns' 30th ranked pass defense.
Donovan McNabb:  Will make fantasy owners very happy this weekend.  5 TD's again?
Drew Bledsoe:  Having a better than expected year.  Should fare well but don't expect a
                                     5 TD game.
Brian Griese:  If Harrington and Dilfer can thrive against the Packers, expect Griese to do
                                   the same.

Duds:  Gus Frerotte:  Will have a hard time against the Panthers' aggressive pass rush.
Michael Vick:  Has thrown for less than 300 yards this season.  His hamstring will limit his
                                  scrambling.
Tim Rattay:  The lack of running game will make it a long, painful day for Rattay.
Eli Manning:  Will not fare as well as his brother.  He faces the city he was expected to
play for last year.  Do not expect a friendly reception.

RUNNING BACKS;

Studs:  Carnell Williams:  Ran all over the Bills last week.  Combined with the Bucs' big offensive
line, look for "Cadillac" to pound out the yards and see the end zone at
                                         least once.
Deuce McAllister:  Should thrive against a team that is allowing 156.5 yards rushing per
                                         game.
LaDainian Tomlinson:  Has not topped 100 yards or scored a TD this season.  Expect
                                                 this to change this week.
Brian Westbrook:  Will exploit the Raiders both by running and catching the ball.

Duds:  Ronnie Brown:  Replaced last week by Sammy Morris.  Will not do much better this week
                                    against the Panthers.
Chris Brown:  Concussion last week may limit Brown this week especially facing a defense
that allows only 58 yards rushing per game.  Expect Travis Henry to play
                                 more this week.
Michael Bennett:  Consecutive poor outtings may cost him his starting job.  Does not help
that he splits time with Moore and Moe Williams.
Warrick Dunn:  The Bills will be hard to run against this week after allowing "Cadillac" so
                                    many yards last week.

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Studs:  Terrell Owens:  Will be out to prove that he is the top receiver in the NFL.
Randy Moss:  Will be out to prove that he is the top receiver in the NFL.
Torry Holt:  The Titans will have a hard time keeping coverage on Holt.  Will exploit the
                               Titans' weak secondary.
Marvin Harrison:  Less than spectacular season so far.  This will all change this weekend
against a pass defense that allows 304 yards per game passing.

Duds:  Nate Burleson:  Knee injury most likely will prevent him from playing this weekend.  Even
if he does play, don't expect much.
Deion Branch:  Rematch of last year's Conference title game in which Branch had a
monster game.  Branch will have a tougher time this Sunday against a very
                                    confident Steelers' defense.
Brandon Lloyd:  49ers' offense struggling.  Expect the same against a tough Cowboys'
                                     defense.
Marty Booker:  Had 1 catch last week.  The Panthers should be able to contain him.

TIGHT ENDS:

Studs:  Jason Witten:  Has had a very quiet year so far.  Productivity should improve this week.
Antonio Gates:  Brees should have some success against the Giants which should fare
                                    well for Gates.

Duds:  Tony Gonzalez:  Disappointing year so far.  Will probably continue to struggle.
Daniel Graham:  Has not been utilized much this year.  Mostly used in the red zone.
                                      Risky start against the Steelers.

KICKERS:

Studs:  Mike Vanderjagt:  Expect him to get plenty of scoring opportunities against a Browns'
defense that is allowing 436 yards per game.
John Kasay:  Had 2 long field goals last weekend (51 and 52).  This guy can kick.

Duds:  Joe Nedney:  The 49ers will have a hard time moving the ball which will limit Nedney's
                                 scoring opportunities.
Olindo Mare:  Offense has been anemic.  Will not get many scoring opportunities.

DEFENSE:

Studs:  Colts:  Colts defense has been somewhat of a suprise.  Will put a lot of pressure on Dilfer
                       to make him make mistakes.
Cowboys:  49ers' ofeense ranked 31st in the league with 179.5 yards per game.
